Introduction
Zeitmaps is a web application for planning, visualizing and sharing a schedule on map. Zeitmaps combines Gantt chart and map view allowing users to plan, schedule, and visualize their projects or events.
Map
Map view in Zeitmaps project can be built from a variety of bulding blocks, which can be layered in highly customizable way. Building blocks of map view include:
- Polygons & polylines
- Text boxes (may contain images)
- Markers
- Tile maps (Google, OpenStreetMap, Bing, etc)
- WMS/WMTS maps (satellite or drone images, etc)
- Images/PDFs (can be easily georeferenced)
- DXF files
Map elements are dynamic, so that changing playhead position on the timeline will affect the visibility and visual properties of the map elements.
Gantt view
In gantt view, item timings can be edited as in project management software. Items can be added and edited in the view or imported from MS Project or Excel. Item hierarchies can be created and items can be sorted in multiple tabs. Calendar work week can be customized.
Task completion degrees can be tracked in the gantt view.
You can select a time or time range in the gantt view timeline, and the map view will display the state of project for the selected time.
Time precision for a project can be customized. You can operate on minute -precision times or use more rough time precision from hours or days up to centuries.
Presentations
Presentations can be created for Zeitmaps projects, and links to the presentations can be sent to the stakeholders, who can study the project schedule on their browsers by observing the dynamic map and interacting with the timeline. Viewing the read-only presentations don’t require signing in to the application. See an example presentation.
Presentation time range, map view region, item visibility and other settings can be customized. Presentation can display both gantt and map views or just map.
Multiple presentations can be created from a single Zeitmaps project. Presentation is a snapshot of a project state, and can be updated to reflect current project state when needed.
In playback & cycle mode presentations are great tool for public display / kiosk purposes.
Import & Export
Item timings can be imported from MS Project XML, Excel or CSV files.
Item timings can be exported as MS Project XML file.
Map view contents can be exported as PNG/PDF/DXF file. The primary way for sharing project with stakeholders is to use presentations.
